Kimberly Turns 24

I am now 24 years old. That feels like the big time to me...like I am really an adult now. But at the same time I don't really feel like an adult, even though I am married with a couple degrees and a full-time big girl job.

My birthday fell on a Sunday this year, so naturally I started celebrating on Saturday.
I had a gift certificate for a mani/pedi from work so I used it to treat myself to some spa time. It was the best nail experience I have had - a much nicer spa than I would have treated myself to. The lady who did it was so sweet and easy to talk to! She was just so friendly and peaceful! She was from Iran and it was interesting to get her take on the events that have been going on in the Middle East over the last ten years. She was so grateful to be in America and only wished that she could bring her family her as well! It made me appreciate the country we live in more.
When she found out I was getting my nails done because it was my birthday, she was so excited. After she finished my fingers she slipped the polish she had used into my purse for me to take home as a gift.
Then she moved me to the other chair to do my toes and left the room for a minute. She came back with cheesecake for me to enjoy while she worked on my feet! So thoughtful!!

The next day Michael brought me breakfast in bed and had me open presents before we left for church. We then had a yummy dinner at Grammy and Grandpa's house with the Murphy cousins and dessert at the Woodheads'! I was so spoiled!!

Later in the month, I had a chance to spend some time with the girls to celebrate! We went to dinner, ate yummy desserts, and went in our hot tub. I really don't see them often enough!! Girl's nights are just needed sometimes.
I totally felt like I was back in high school for a night and I loved it! Lindsay behind the wheel, windows down, blasting music and singing at the top of our lungs. So much fun and a nice break from the norm!

Here's to another year!! So far 24 has treated me pretty well.

We Love the Jazz!!

That's what Michael tells me every time I complain about how many Jazz games we have to watch.
Lucky for him, we keep getting free seats to some of the games!
I don't hate the Jazz, I might even love them - I guess I just don't love the fact that there are 82 games a season and we can't miss
tuning into a single one because "WE LOVE THE JAZZ!!"

Trip to the Bay

In January I was able to attend a training for work at the EY office in San Jose.
It's not always fun to leave home for business trips, but I got to see lots of family on this one so it made up for it.

I started the trip by staying my first night with Grandma and Grandpa Lambert. It was so fun to be there again! I don't think I had been to their home since I was in middle school or something - they were always coming to visit us instead of the other way around. Being there brought back all kinds of memories! It was so nice to be able to treat them to dinner  with my meal allowance and to get some one-on-one time with them. They are both such great examples to me in so many ways! Unfortunately, I didn't take a single picture during my stay with them :(

The next day I made my way to my meetings downtown. That night a group of us went out to dinner at a rib place so the guys could do a full rack challenge. Some of them actually did it - they ate 13 whole ribs! Yikes!
Skye and I each ordered a half and didn't even finish that! I feel so blessed to enjoy my coworkers' company - we have to spend lots of time together and I am so lucky they are my friends and not just people I spend my days with!

After my meetings I stayed the weekend with the Bradburns! It was so wonderful to get to have some time with them - we really miss having them live close to us!
During the day I hung out with Jack, Sam, and Nora and at night once the boys were asleep I would sneak into Kurt and Marie's room to hang at the end of their bed while we talked, watched YouTube videos, and old Friends episodes on TV. It was such a blast and so nice to have some quality time with that little family.
I just wish they would move back by us already!

When I got home, Michael had cleaned the house and made me this "Welcome Apartment" cake!
He's the best!!
